Oklahoman Editorial: There’s No Going Back on Oklahoma Capitol Repair Work
Today, the Oklahoman newspaper published an editorial encouraging elected officials to stay the course in finishing the repair and restoration of the State Capitol.
From the column:
Project manager Trait Thompson called the third-floor work a microcosm of what’s in store: “Historic spaces pretty much destroyed over time, spaghetti wires over the ceiling, HVAC out of date, marble that has been carpeted and tiled over.”
In the basement, leaking sewage lines will need to be replaced. It was in a basement office that pieces of concrete fell through a ceiling, which prompted lawmakers to approve the bond issue a few months later.
